@woh If I could do it again, I'd get a Lincoln Navigator Black Label, it's a tried and true and they honor their commitments (free pickup and delivery, free loaner, free car wash, concierge), giant dealer (Ford) network, large warranty, free maintenance, two-speed transfer case, excellent interior, lots of aftermarket parts and upgrade opportunities.

@Saltydog no one knows if the thermostat has been redesigned or if it is simply a replacement, without a redesign, it's just a replacement its a matter of time.
That would be a fantastic choice, my Bro n Law has a Navigator and I really like it, it has smooth power and a really nice interior.

He has had some issues with it, but nothing that would change his mind, the cam phasers failed, but Lincoln really took care of them and it was a no-stress operation for them. The customer service he has gotten would be enough to sell me on one.

According to the GME T6 DSE engineer that I spoke with a few weeks ago, the T-Stat has undergone improvements for robustness of the operating link connection to the ball valve.

What is being installed for the recall is not the exact same part that was installed during engine build.

I will add, my Bro N Law LOVES my GW but he has not had to deal with the dealership:LOL: everytime I am over, he finds a reason to drive it.

Thanks for the update. I got mine replaced too and I'm seeing the same thing. I'm really praying it stays that way. Just out of curiosity, I took it to a dealership for trade in value and it was absolutely horrendous. I need to keep it for at least 3 more years.

To be fair GMC is not the direct competition for the Grand Wagoneer. The Escalade is and quite frankly, the Escalade rides nicer though I'm sure GW is more off-road capable which I have no use for. I hate the way the second row folds in the Escalade but at least it has a pass through in the middle. If I could do it all over again, I would get the Escalade over the GW.
I have not looked at our GW's resale value, but we did buy it used so we did not pay anywhere near the 112k sticker.

But yes the resale value will not be good on any Jeep, unless its a Wrangler.

Thought I would update this, so our GW has been behaving and there are no more overheating warnings. I am seeing about 215-235F temps in normal driving. Just drove to Disneyland and pushed it hard up through i-5 and never saw anything over 230F.

So I guess for now we are fine and my trust is momentarily restored, still would like an update for the AM radio, but eh i could live without it.

My local GMC Dealer got a new 2025 Yukon Denali, so I took a look the other day, some really nice updates and will probably be our next purchase. That said, GMC has a LONG way to go to match the interior materials of the GW's, it so cheap feeling on anything below the seating area, such horrible carpet, and hard plastics that mar very easy and for an SUV costing 96k... geez.
How many miles since the thermostat was replaced?
We have put 10,000 since it got replaced. Seems fine but I guess these engines run hotter. My temps always hover before the half way mark. Dealer said don't worry u less it gets over the halfway mark .
Escalade was meh. We tried it out to and floaty as an old Seville. To much like a cockpit on the drivers side.
Gw has much more attention on passengers comfort.
But the new nav has massage rear seats. Just needs more hp.

We have over 26,000 miles on this 23 gw L series 3 and got an extended warranty for 100,000 miles then most likely get something else .

Very true, the GMC is not on the same level as the GW, but the price puts it in the running.

I drove the Escalade, I was not all that impressed with the ride quality I feel the GW is smoother and more controlled on the Highway. The Escalade seemed to floaty on the highway and too jittery on the city streets. Again not bad, just in comparison the GW.

My Bro in Law has a Navigator and the ride is very good, almost on the level of the GW, the highway is the only time it seems to get a bit floaty in the rear.
Yeah, I have a base Wagoneer L on 20s. The Jeep came with 18s but I ditched them. I'm sure the added wheelbase helps. Maybe the base suspension is just plain good. Maybe not riding on 22s helps. But my base Wagoneer L is creamy smooth riding. I love it and have people who've ridden in Escalades tell me the ride in the Wagoneer is better. I have no idea, but the base is amazing as is...

Let him drive it to the dealer for the next repair!! other post but….traddd my 2024 JGW-S3 (O)…(Baltic Grey/Black….managed to find a still older model 2024, but only 8.5 months build date. H With just around eight months on the lot….i wasn’t I. The market for the RSE kit, but $20K discount is a $20K discount for….no weird messages, great performance and decent fuel MOG even across the Ozarks of SE/Central MO….has the trailer tow prep package…:I don’t tow, but like the heavier duty coolin. The massaging seats and center console cooler definitely come in handy during a long road trip!

I've got just under 40k miles on the Wagoneer now. Mine was replaced 3+ months ago at about 23-24k. Scary the miles I drive. Got a second vehicle again so trying to keep those miles down. LOL. Hoping I can keep the Jeep to about 25k miles per year and put about 40 on the sedan...

Anybody have a thermostat issue where it was potentially stuck in open position causing low coolant temp CEL? 2023 base Wagoneer here with appx 24k miles. Hurricane SO, started a few weeks ago with the CEL and maxes around 170* if we are lucky. Driving in 20 degree weather with coolant at 120* most often, doesn’t bode well for available heat in the cabin.

it goes in later this week to get the thermostat replaced after waiting for the part a few weeks. Hopefully that solves it, but I hadn’t seen one running too cool in this thread.

I'm in this boat right now '23 WS2 Carbide at 25k miles. Takes quite awhile to warm up to temp and then gets as high as 230 at 70mph over time. I'm in 20 degrees right now and it's running at 170ish degrees. I got a check engine light for this a week or so ago, P0128. I cleared it, hasn't come back, but the problem is there. Dealership is 5-6 weeks out to get me in and from the sounds of it, i'll be in the loaner for awhile..

It doesn’t matter, all the hurricanes have a bad design thermostat and housing.
There is no recall but a lot of blown engines. It’s still unclear if the part has materially changed or just the part number.

Mine just went out tonight 23WS3 HD Tow 2 WD. 14,400 miles. Pulled over quickly but what engine tests should I request to make sure the engine or other parts aren’t damaged?

Was the temp pegged on H when you pulled over? Or had you just received the on screen message? The needle will stay just below halfway from down well under 190 up to about 237. As it goes higher, the needle will quickly move to H...in about 10 degrees. If it wasn't pegged on H for more than a few seconds, you're going to be fine. I limped mine home and then drove it around to observe the temps later before bringing it to my dealer. Got it fixed and have had zero issues since.

If you are asking me, I’m not sure. I saw a red notification it was overheating and glanced at the bottom left which showed the temp was high. I pulled over at the next cross street to get out of direct traffic with no shoulder, so pretty quickly. I considered putting the heat on but just shut it down asap.
