@ChillxPoint: I had asked the dealer service department about the OEM parts. And was given a “don’t bother” response. Too costly and huge lead time to get the pieces.

The controller AND adapter/harness I bought as a single purchase plugged right in!

Mounting it was only slightly aggravating… I like the brake controller positioned so I can operate it easily with my right hand. And that the status light is visible outside (not through) the steering wheel.

No, the pieces needed to add the factory option are clear.

Getting them into a competent shop will be expensive and take an unreasonable length of time.

I chose the clear, well-traveled path: I purchased a common controller with the recommended harness from a reputable e-taler.

I have since discovered there is a brake controller that plugs into the 7 pin connector and provides the proper brake signals. Adjusted by your phone using bluetooth.

No mods to tow vehicle or trailer needed.

and the switch needed another piece on the right side to completely fill the hole in the new knee bolster panel required for the switch.

Did this mopar part work? I read on the website I need to make sure that my wag has BOTH 4 pin connectors… will a dealer verify that? Im nervous to open anything.

The trailer hitch cover comes off with 3 dzues fasteners. Both 7 and 4 pin connectors should be present.

The brake controller connector is under the dash. A few screws removes the cover above the pedals.

Just pull the rear cover off and see if the 4 and 7 pin connectors are there.
I went with aftermarket brake controller which was much easier.

Do you have to keep the app up on your phone screen the entire time you are towing?
Yes, that's why I use a spare iPhone just for the Curt Bluetooth controller app. The Curt app disables sleep mode on that spare iPhone, so the big orange button (used in case of an emergency for swaying) is always visible. In 5 years I've only had to hit the emergency orange button one time and that was while towing without a weight distribution hitch (WDH) with anti-sway. Now with my tandem axle trailer and WDH - I've never had sway.

Curt makes a brake controller that works through your seven pin connector. I ordered one today for my Wagoneer Series II. Has anyone tried this option? Works through Bluetooth and an app on your phone. Looks slick if it does what it promises.
I have one of those and used it to tow with my GC. It works really good!
