Alas, my GW S2 Obsidian/14,000 miles (HO Hurricane) just had this issue. Hot day, driving up a highway hill when overheating warnings came up. I'm so blessed that I was very near to my dealership when this happened and I drove it right there. To do so, I shut off the car systems, including air conditioner, and coasted as much as I could to the dealership. The irony is that I had an appointment scheduled for later in the week and, so, they had already ordered the part for me. ... But all of these stories on the forum are quite concerning. I'm worried about the longevity of the engine. I purchased this expensive vehicle as a long-term play and I make many long road trips. But the technician said that four other Wagoneers were recently towed into the dealership for the same issue and that it is, indeed, nationwide. Very disappointing and concerning.
If it's nationwide as they claim, I look forward to receiving a recall, tsb, customer appreciation notification or whatever to get this ticking thermostat bomb fixed. Has anyone reported thermostat issues with less than 10K miles?

Agree. My other thought is: Should we all expect this to happen again in another 10,000 miles? If so, that's untenable. That this issue is happening at all so broadly on cars so new is already unacceptable.

How many miles on your GW? Have you gotten any response to your request for buyback?
Yesterday was exactly six months of ownership with ours. Back ordered parts that are a week or two out is somewhat understandable, but 45+ days is completely unacceptable.
I just joined the club with the thermostat issue and the rear differential issue. I requested a buy back under the TX lemon law and I was denied on Monday. I now have to hire a lawyer or go to arbitration. And don't try and trade it in as it is not worth anything.

I checked the part number for the thermostat and it’s the same for all Wagoneer models, which tells me we all need it fixed. I’m unclear if they replace it with the same part or an updated one but I could only find one part number. My guess is they won’t recall untill they have enough parts and currently save them for failures. I hope they are working on an updated part that won’t fail.

How many miles?

As for the buyback, it makes no sense to ask the manufacturer for a buyback. Of course, they're going to say NO. There are laws that govern your state that dictates what does and does not qualify for a buyback. I've done it three times without a lawyer; it was seamless. 2015 - Ford F150, 2017 GMC Yukon Denali, and (honestly forgot the third).

14,000 for the thermostat, less than that for the Rear Differential issue. How did you get the buy back done?

The law in my state says if the car is in the shop three times for the same issue, automatic buyback. Or if the car is in the shop 30 days for ANY issue, automatic buyback.

I initiated the buyback with the Better Business Bureau and they assisted with the entire process from beginning to end.

I just had the thermostat go on my 2023 Series 2 Carbide edition with 17,000 miles. Thankfully they got on it and Jeep customer care expedited the part. Typical as stated from others, temp went up and oil pressure drooped and went into limp mode. Jeep customer care ordered a tow and after 3 hours they canceled on me and I ended up getting my own tow. All said a wasted 5 hours on the side of the road. However, Im still concerned about the issue that on occasion when you get on it the dash says low oil see owners manual. There is no code associated with this as engineers have stated and they couldnt duplicate it this time while being serviced for the thermostat. My concern is that its showing up for a reason and it tells me its not getting enough oil to the top of the motor. Does any one else have this along with standing outside of the vehicle with the hood open and hear a ticking sound coming from the motor? I know there were two suppliers for the oil pumps and one was not putting out oil. Just very concerning for longevity.
I had the same issue on my ‘23 Wagoneer SIII (20k miles)— overheating + low oil pressure warning. Dealer diagnosed as thermostat issue and the part is currently on order, but the technician could find no codes associated with the low oil pressure warning. Wondering if you ever learned anything more about this at issue? Definitely concerned they will repair one problem but leave another, but also seems like the two issues are interrelated and maybe replacing the thermostat will take care of everything?

I've seen several others post the same symptoms. My guess is that when the thermostat sticks the oil temperature ends up quite high as well, and causes lower oil pressure than the computer expects to see.

Update on this debacle. After the thermostat was repaired as well as a software update and they had no solution for the See owners manual for Proper Oil and fuel words on the dash. I left the dealership and that message came up constantly over the next few days. I took it back and they opened a STAR case with Jeep. Their answer was put 5 gallons of Premium in it and use a light foot for a few days. LOL. Well it had and always has had premium in it from the day it was off the truck and it even had octane boost in it this time. After this last dealership visit instead of those words coming up occasionally and going off, this time it was constant until the Service engine see dealer came on. Well they told me to do what STAR said and that the see dealer light was off. I started the vehicle at the dealership and the see dealer came on. So they kept it and this time opened a new STAR case with Jeep telling them the same thing. So I'm supposed to drive this around with loss of power and not running correctly and put premium in it even though it has premium and octane boost. Customer care hasn't offered an help. FYI to everyone: STAR paperwork that I have says to do what I stated above and drive it and it also states the following: Engineers are aware of the issue and no solution until and update becomes available.

Insanity

Insanity indeed! I say this knowing everyone doesn’t have a spare vehicle to drive, but if it was me, my Wagoneer would stay in service until the problem has been resolved thus starting the lemon law clock.

Just got back from the dealership and I’m doing what STAR suggested and receipts with my 5 to 6 gallons of premium on it lol. I spoke with the GM of the dealership for over 2 hours to make sure the paper work from star covered my A:! (Cya) as well as the dealerships by taking a vehicle out with service prompt on the dash. He was frustrated as well and read through every detail alongside me. I’m calling corporate today. Lemon law started from visit one and after 3 attempts to repair it becomes valid. My question to them is you knew about the issue for the last 8 months at a minimum, according to other complaints and forums. Your engineers can’t figure it out? Why? As stated I love the vehicle over all but it may become necessary to exercise a final option.

Bummer! I wish data logging were available so we could see what specifically is upsetting the computer. If it were mine I think I'd try running 5w-40 in it that meets the spec for the HO motor. Maybe it is triggering from oil pressure rather than knocking.

Can someone please share a link or post an TSB for the thermostat? I have looked everywhere and can't find one. In one FB group someone mentioned notice 26B? But I can't find that on Mopars website. As far as I can tell there is no official recall for thermostats. If there is can someone post the recall notice? I have a 23 W SII with Heavy Duty Tow package, Off Road, Premium Group and Convenience Group and SO Hurricane. As per my VIN there is no thermostat recall.

I did not have a recall for my 23 gw 3 L, but it overheated at 16,900
They put a new thermostat and water pump in.
It has been 2 weeks since I got it back no issues so far.
I did get this from one of the forums on this site,
But the dealership never mentioned it to me.

Not sure it's an actual recall yet. They are slow to roll out and notify customers.
