We are in PA. We are thinking we finally check that box of 3 attempts to repair without a remedy. We are so far under water with this stupid car because of how much they depreciated otherwise we would have dumped it months ago. We picked this car specifically for the size and safety features and now feel like we are riding in a ticking time bomb.

Just wondering how many others here experience a mechanical break down due to engine over heating? On Saturday 2023 GW S3, which has been flawless, broke down because of a stuck thermostat. I have been told that these thermostats are on backorder with about a 45+ days wait, but still no hard ETA. They are telling me that this is popping up as a national issue.
Anyways, very disappointing, but I am in a loaner Wagoneer provided by the dealership.

Anyone else hear about this or experience it?
Just picked up my 2023 GW after 32 days. They had to replace the engine after overheating last month! Sounds like it would have been a lot easier for them to fix the thermostat issue.

I am officially requesting permission to join the club haha 2023 Series II Carbide with 22k miles has been perfect up until about 3 months ago. Had the usual symptoms described above while out one night. Thought it might have been the torrential rain so didn't think anything of it. No issues for another two months until the past two days. Back to back temp spike, pull over, let her cool. Luckily, we were very close to home.

I called it, parked her in the garage and called Wagoneer Client Services. Very professional, and picked ours up within the hour. Dealer verified the thermostat was the culprit as it was stuck OPEN. Got lucky I guess. New one expedited, will be done Friday. We purchased this one new in Tennessee in 2023. Oddly enough, our neighbor who bought the 2023 GW at the same dealer just had the same issue. We are now in the Midwest and the dealer said we were only the second one they've seen with this issue.

Cheers to everyone on here for their experiences. Hoping this is the last of this issue. The one time I buy an American car this happens....go figure.

Here's to hoping this issue ends here!

Appreciate the reply. Did they replace the thermostat only first? Then you still had overheating problems? Or did more issues arise they then tried to fix with subsequent visits?
Don’t really know they troubleshot the problem for two weeks. First saying it was reservoir problem and then finally saying new engine needed. Despite my constant calls they rarely provided any update on status of work. Almost as if they were keeping problem a secret

Copy. Thanks John. May I ask how long ago this was? Everything good with the new engine?

Can people please post their part numbers from the repair orders for the thermostats? There’s major confusion around this and I’m almost certain some folks are getting thermostats installed that are just going to fail again at some point.
Part thermostat #
68672901aa
Done at 16,901 miles
Currently have 31,000 miles on new thermostat
Replaced July 12th 2024
2023,Gw3L

Based on the part numbers of the thermostat, the part has been superseded by subsequent numbers several times. It just makes me think that potentially, like with most parts, there is a constant ongoing iterative process of improvement happening.

I would just make sure you are getting the latest part number thermostat.

Sorry for the delay. Dealer actually had received the thermostat that matches the number ending with AA early, and fixed it in a day! No issues since. 20k on Series II Carbide.

The dealer also mentioned there have been no returns for service after installing the new thermostat on a "good amount" of Wagoneers.
