TomTom Navigation Keeps Rebooting

Hi all! I have a 2023 Grand Wagoneer and the Navigation keeps restarting. Same issue as our 2021 Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve. What is causing this? Software version is FCA-MY23.T25.50-PROD.

It is getting really annoying on trips to say the least. It’s like no one knows exactly what is going on or has any remedy to fix these weird issues.

Have tried factory resetting and that didn’t help. Tried just using Bluetooth instead of CarPlay. Issue persists. I know many people are having the same issues. What gives? Doesn’t make sense. I also have a 2019 RAM Limited. Doesn’t have any issues like this.

Maybe hope in sight! Looked at the Navigation settings in the “Map” section and all three maps including North America said Update and you could click on them and start the update process. At the top it said it would download the updates when the vehicle was powered off and connected to secure wifi. Will update this thread when I find out. This is exactly what the guy on 5thgenrams said that I linked to in an above post. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Mine started about 3 days on my 2022 Wagoneer series III, Doing the exact same thing, took to dealer today and they couldn't figure it out, talking about ordering a new radio for me. Also My wife's 2023 Grand Cherokee L also started doing it today. Not sure how much yet as we have not driven it but a few miles, tomorrow will tell when she arrives for work.

I’m in the shop now. OTA hadn’t worked so it on the list. I’m convinced Guardisn is sending a bad character in the feed, why else would bith RAM and Jeep have this issue

The dealer did report a update for the AC - I hope it helps.

Sounds totally plausible. The second TSB I mentioned had a huge list of things on it from OTA issues to voice problems, black screens etc. They mention Ram and Grand Cherokee models.

Is anyone having this issue, that is not using the live traffic and paid for services with Uconnect? I’m wording if I cancel my navigation system subscription will the reboots stop happening. This has to be fixed, I’m getting so annoyed and it just started for me 3 days ago. Apparently this is a TomTom issue.

Look at the second picture in post #23 above. Where it says “latest map installed release date” and it should give an idea. Mine now says July 2023. On the Wagoneer it’s under something like settings, about, system from the nav screen. Not sure when mine updated but OTA map updates are supposed to be part of my subscription along with live traffic etc. Imagine it’s the same setup on a Grand Cherokee.

Spoke with someone from Uconnect and was told that I needed to get the new software update and that the dealership has to do it. Apparently this should fix the issue it’s TSB 08-183-22. So try to make a appointment with your dealership and give them that TBS info to fix the issue.

So this morning there was a message at the top of the screen saying that it couldn’t update and would try again when the vehicle was turned back off. Went into the navigation settings(Maps) but didn’t see any of the options to download or update like I did last night. Hoping that a couple of power cycles will resolve this. I won’t know for sure until tomorrow morning. I was told by my wife that it did not reboot on her way to work this morning. Again, fingers crossed. 🤞

What are the TSBs? I’m not seeing anything.
I have the same issue with my 2022 Wagoneer
I think it's a XMGuardian issue, as nothing has changed on the Tom Tom or GW software versions nad we all reporting the same problem. (plus it just started in the last few weeks)
Same issue with my 2022 Wagoneer Series Ii. Been happening for 2 werks now which trends what others are saying. Taking it to the dealer Friday

So I tried these with no availability:
  • Factory Reset
  • New Profiles
  • Disable POIs
  • No paired phone(s
What worked(Post from 5thgenrams.com):
  • Opening Navigation app
  • Go into settings
  • Click maps
  • In maps, said there were updates
  • Clicked the download icons to start the update process
  • Shut vehicle off overnight.
Additional info:

I have always been connected to my home wifi. I pay for all the connected services. Activated the built-in hotspot which I have never used on its trial.

I’m just so glad it is not rebooting anymore. I hope this helps someone with this issue. ✌

Anyone else not see the ‘’maps” in the navigation settings? I see ‘map view’ but no option for updates

Just curious, my issue has randomly gone away. Been a few days now without one reboot. I’m assuming an update was performed over wifi, but I wasn’t notified of anything. So I have no idea what was done, but everything seems fine again. Has anyone else had this issue resolve?

Ours had a message at the top of the screen that said the maps were updated. It was the same type of message that has the red X that you can press to dismiss the message.

update on my 22 JGC 4xe Summit Reserve

I got to the ‘maps’ menu and they all say “updating”…. I didn’t try to update them - just what I ran into
Dealership is clueless
I’m traveling but on my way to the airport at 4 am it was still the same as yesterday
Double checked that updates over WiFi is enabled in both places :/
So …
Ours said updates available and we clicked the download icons to the right of the maps. Looks like a refresh button. The icons changed to what looks like a stop button in the middle and the download progress goes around that in a circle. Kind of like when you download an app on your phone. It said at the top that the updates would download when the vehicle was off and connected to secure wifi.
