I'm looking to replace my 2017 MB GLS 450 with 100K miles on it. It's been a great ride, no issues until it 96k, had to replace the TCM and the AC Compressor.

I've been scrolling this forum and reading a lot about pros/cons of the W and GW. I was wondering what year of the W or GW is the better option regarding reliability.

Thanks

Your dilemma appears to be the same as mine at the time. What else can I get at this price point with as many creature comforts, tech, and luxury appointments

Escalade, too much cultural baggage. Navigator, classy and somewhat ostentatious, GMC, I like em but they don’t measure up. Land Rover, GORGEOUS, not a kid friendly hauler….would I have trepidation about cheerios, juice boxes, and all sorts of other mess I find myself vacuuming or wiping up in the Wagy.

I have a 2022 WS2 w/10K miles - No Issues

and a 2023 GWS3 Obsidian w/6K miles - No Issues

NOT TO MINIMIZE THE EXPERIENCE OF OTHERS, both of mine are under warranty so they can fall the Fvck apart and I will get them fixed under warranty and keep rolling.

Only reason I went with Wagoneer was that there were no other brands’ full-sized SUV on the lots when I was shopping.

So far (knock wood) I have had no serious issues. Trips to the dealer for routine service were not excessively delayed.

My past cars include Lincolns and Jaguars. When one chooses a luxury brand for a daily driver, keep a spare car on hand.

Currently, my missus’ Toyota RAV4 is our backup. From 2012 to 2020 I kept a Ford F-350 dump truck registered, insured and inspected.

I have a 2023 GW L Series III HO I-6. It is a daily driver, primarily short trips but have taken one 2,000 mile trip when it was brand new from Houston to Cartersville, Georgia, and several trips from Houston to Baton Rouge. I’ve had great service. It is very luxurious and has every bell and whistle that a car can have. I have not towed with it yet. The mileage is marginally better than my 2019 RAM V-8 was (traded the RAM for this Wagoneer). If I think I’m being easy on the gas, I’m getting about 13 around town, but much better on the road with a documented 24 mpg. The fuel tank is huge, and I almost drove from Houston to Atlanta without refueling. It has been in the shop once for something other than for an oil change and tire rotation. I tried to raise the 3rd row seat when the 2nd row was reclined. The 3rd row hit the 2nd row and went back down. Not thinking, I tried to raise it again and then the 3rd row seat would not work. It was fixed with a software update.
Hope that gives you some information.

I’ve got a 2022… I love the car but the only issue I have right now is my air conditioner… when it works it works great… but then it fades off and you have to turn it off for about 5-10 minutes then it works again for a while… my local jeep dealer is useless and awful trying to get the car in for service…hint (Brooklyn NY) i did have to take it in to have the tail gate re-programmed because it was draining the battery… but other than that there is nothing sweeter on the road with the power comfort amenities than this vehicle maybe a Range Rover autobiography without any issues.

You may try to talk to the dealer again, Jeep has discovered some display/modules will cause the AC system to turn off and sometimes back on, we has a similar issue and they replaced them and fixed it.

If the dealership is a Wagoneer Certified dealer I dont understand the issue but not all dealers are willing to do what it takes to become one. Check the Wagoneer Certified list and see if they are. Once again get on google, FB and all the others and post your reviews describing their refusal to work on it.

I’ve owned 5 jeeps and have 4 right now. A 2024 Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve, a 2023 GW L Series III, a 2020 Grand Cherokee Overland (bought for my daughter), a 2019 Grand Cherokee Overland, and a 2024 Wrangler Rubicon (bought for my granddaughter). I have had zero problems with any of them. None. Zip!
And no, I don’t work for Jeep or a Jeep dealership. I work in Cardiac surgery and have to be able to get to the OR despite any weather. I also own a 2010 Chevy Z-71 which is perfect, and was my first “get to work despite hurricanes” (I live in south Texas toward Galveston). My granddaughter drives the Rubicon as a daily drive; my daughter has over 90,000 miles on her 2020 Overland.
I can’t guarantee that anyone would have the good experience and good service that I’ve had.
But I can say this: I’d take a Jeep over a Mercedes any day of the week and twice on Sunday. We’ve had two Mercedes and both were loads of trouble.

Thanks @JamesParrish for the response.

I really like the design of the W/GW. It checks all the boxes for a family of my size. This will be an everyday driving vehicle. I might opt for the more efficient V6. My GLS guzzles gas already, and this one likely will guzzle even more. I'd like something comparative the least. I'll be driving 60 miles daily.

I have the High Output I-6. 510hp and 500ft-lbs torque. Man, it is a beast! If you stomp on the gas, which I do way too often, the head snapping acceleration just doesn’t stop! It amazes me that for a 7,000lb vehicle, it will outrun a V-8 Mustang not just off the line, but completely down the line. I haven’t tried to see how fast it is from 0-60, but it’s fast. Maybe sub-6’s, but I really don’t know. Of course, my gas mileage sucks because of my driving habits, but HOLY SMOKES at the acceleration!! And I have the L series, so you can put a ton of luggage behind the 3rd row seats, or, in my case, I cut my daughter’s grass (single mom), and I can put a full length weed whacker, a blower, and an EGO mower (I’m too old to lift a gasoline mower), and still have room for more.
