Hi folks, I have a 23 GW2 in order but I didn't choose the heavy-duty trailer-tow package. I never own or tow a trailer before so I'm not sure if I need it. I assume you can still tow stuff without this package, but what's the advantage of having it? If I will only tow once or twice every year, do I need to add this package? Thanks for your input.

If you plan on towing anything with trailer brakes, you need the heavy duty trailer tow package with a brake controller.

I saw a base Wagoneer Series 1 and it comes with a 2" tow hitch and a seven-pin connector and the rear view camera already has the center dash lines for the hitch. So even without the HD Tow package, you are setup well for those occasions that you may need to attach a bike rack or tow a U-haul trolly, etc.

Also, you can get a Bluetooth brake controller for about $290. I have it and it works great. I have a Wagoneer series 2 without tow package.

Agreed (for occasional, light towing). Anything above 5,000 lbs. or at elevation may be a different story. Another distinction is that (in addition to the features stated previously) the HD Tow comes with Trailer Hitch Zoom which is infinitely more helpful when trying to hitch a trailer:

Again, not a deal breaker by any means for occasional, light towing but extremely more beneficial when frequently towing heavy loads. Hope that helps.

Not impactful for towing but you also get a locking safe in the center console. Surprised both me and the sales guy when he was showing me around. Also comes with front tow hooks.

Trailer brake controller is unfortunately tucked down under the steering wheel and a bit tough to get too. I guess I'll have to get used to it.

I don't tow anything very often, but as a Phoenix resident, I normally get towing packages for the extra engine and transmission cooling. A cheap investment, since I usually drive a vehicle until the wheels fall off.
Exactly! I live in Tucson and I was looking for the same just for the HD cooling that comes with these towing packages but I couldn't find one.
