We have a 2022 Wagoneer 4X4 and started having problems with the Start/Stop system within 400 miles. A yellow Start/Stop icon and warning that the system couldn't be activated would pop up within seconds of turning the ignition on. I had read online and figured we needed to drive it a bit to charge the eTorque battery and the light turned off within a couple of days.
Start/Stop worked fine the first day the error went away, turning the engine on and off for about six traffic lights, but then we pulled up at a light and the motor died completely and several Start/Stop errors appeared on the screen and the car went in Park. We had to push the ignition button to get it running again and put it back in Drive as the light changed.
The local dealer changed the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and pointed that out as an issue. We've now had it back for two weeks and the system returned to normal operation but the problem has returned (around 1,000 miles now), the engine shuts off at lights and goes into Park with Start/Stop warnings on the dash.
Returning to the dealer next week and asking them to inspect and hopefully replace the eTorque battery, which seems like it could be the problem. I wish they'd just rip it out as the 5.7L HEMI runs strong and the car is perfect without the Start/Stop hybrid mess.
