Hey everyone! We have a Series II GW, and the liftgate opens up at random times. The latest was when it was in the garage and got lodged in the garage door...

Other times it opened up while driving in a parking lot and everything in the back fell out, and once, after backing out of the garage and heading out of the neighborhood.

Has anyone had this issue or know of anyone with the same issue? We don't keep our keyfobs near anything, and we make sure the hatch is completely closed after putting stuff in the back (as we had issues with our Explorer)

It's at the dealership now being looked at, but it's been a couple of weeks. My thought was if there were audit logs or error logs that might show when actions happened and what caused them, like with our PCs.

Personally haven't had a problem with this. Lift gate has only opened when pressing the button on the key fob or the one above the rear view mirror. Might you have a defective button, or inadvertently pressing it?

However, I would think that the lift gate should only open when the car is in park. Driving around and having it open inadvertently is certainly not something that should ever happen.

Is there some way to completely disable having the lift gate open? I certainly would like that option if I'm carrying a kayak on top or a bike rack in back. It could be a disaster if the gate opens when something like that is in the way.

So the dealer did a "software update" and you can disable to foot enabled liftgate opening action, which we did. We also made sure the Wagoneer was able to update through our home wireless network when in the garage so updates could be pushed at night if necessary.

We'll see how things progress. After being at the dealer for 2+ months, we finally received it back and no issues so far.
