In a recent article, the Detroit Free Press, wrote about the future of Jeep with their new line of SUVs. One thing that stood out is that they think the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will be larger than their competitors.

Which means that the Wagoneer could be bigger than the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban and the GMC Yukon/Yukon XL. While the Grand Wagoneer could be bigger than the Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade and Mercedes-Benz GLS.

If they're using the Ram platform that's definitely possible but hopefully that size doesn't compromise how they drive and handle.

The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, bigger SUVs engineered and equipped to compete with luxury icons like the Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade and Mercedes GLS. Details are scant at this point, but the Grand Wagoneer will be more luxurious, if not bigger. The SUVs are expected to be based on a pickup-type body-on-frame chassis, like the Escalade and Navigator. Production is likely to begin in late 2020 at FCA’s sprawling Warren plant just north of Detroit.

Expect the sky to be the limit on size, interior luxury, features and price for the Grand Wagoneer. The Wagoneer will probably target less ritzy and possibly slightly smaller vehicles like the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban and GMC Yukon/Yukon XL.

GM Authority is also reporting the same thing, they say the Wagoneer will be the same size as the Yukon.

As we covered a few days ago, Jeep is currently prepping a new three-row SUV based on the Ram 1500 pickup. Slated to carry the Wagoneer nameplate, the new full-size, body-on-frame utility will compete head-to-head with the 2021 GMC Yukon and 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. Interestingly, all three models are practically identical with regard to exterior sizing.

While we’ll have to wait for the official numbers for final verification, initial spy shots reveal that the camo-clad prototypes for both the new Wagoneer and the new 2021 GMC Yukon sport the same exterior dimensions. Thus, we can add the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe to the mix as well, given its close relation to the new Yukon.

General Motors is expected to reveal the new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe next week alongside the next-generation Chevrolet Suburban. Meanwhile, the 2021 GMC Yukon is expected to drop sometime in the near future, while the 2021 Jeep Wagoneer will hit the scene midway through the 2020 calendar year.

The next-gen GM trucks will utilize the new GM T1 truck platform, switching over to a new independent rear suspension in the process. Both the 2021 GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe will utilize the latest Global B electrical architecture as well.
