How to turn auto start/stop off?

Hey everyone, new Wagoneer owner here. We hate the auto start/stop feature. I would assume there’s a way to turn it off but in the sea of screens and options this thing has, I haven’t found it. Can anyone point me in the right direction to do this?

I do not know how to permanently turn it off, but you can manually turn it off each time you start your vehicle. It is the Icon with an “A” with a semicircle going clockwise located on the cluster below the second center screen. Page 136-137 in the owner’s manual:

Yeah I was trying to figure out how to turn it off permanently so we don’t have to push the button every time we start the truck.
That might be one of those OBD2 fixes from a private app like Carista.
These guys make a disable device that plugs into the OBD port, but they don't have one available for the wagoneer yet. They said Jeep implemented a new communications bus in the Wagoneer that will require them to update their tech. I suspect they won't get to this until the hurricane motors become more prevalent across the Rams, etc.

SWMBO hates the feature too. She developed the habit of switching it off every time she starts her 2020 Toyota RAV4. And when she drives the Wagoneer.

I gave the auto-shutdown-restart a chance… It is weird when the engine shuts down at a traffic light and the HVAC fan speeds up.

But, since the engine relights as I relieve pressure on the brake pedal and there is adequate power to accelerate 6,000 lbs into village traffic… I ignore it. Along with the fully automatic wipers and headlamps👍

Get used to it soon all cars will have automatic stop / start. Thanks uncle sam. See below.
It should be remembering the last setting.. mine does

Any ideas on how your car got THAT configuration item set?
I thin it's a setting in the connect but honestly don’t recall which. There are so many, it also seems to retain the 4w setting (I.e., snow) after restart

Wow! You really found a honey-hole of settings! Mine always jumped back to ‘Auto’ drive mode after startup.

Color me jealous.

If you can find what you did and share it with the group, I think it would be immensely helpful! I've searched everywhere in my settings for such an option!

I hated it on my 2022 Wagoneer, too. Thankfully, my 2023 Grand Wagoneer doesn’t have it. It was a nice surprise. Not sure if it was a total design change for the 2023 or just because it’s a different model/engine.
I’d guess that the low RPM turbo needs to stay spinning or you’d have major lag between engine re-light and enough power to
move 6,000 lbs away from the stop-light.

Both of these issues are MPG-related, trying to raise the MPG of the entire fleet to comply with EPA goals

I think you had a 6.4L and now have a Hurricane. The start-stop is in the Hurricane.

The lag is easily fixed with Pedal Commander regardless of engine.
