I am probably going to put a deposit down on a GW3 soon but have a couple of questions that maybe best answered from someone that already owns a GW3.

1) Do the USB ports charge the phone when the car is turned off? Similarly, does the wireless charging pad charge when the car is off?

2) My GW3 will likely not include the rear entertainment package. Without that option does the front passenger screen have “Amazon Fire TV for Auto” available on their screen or does it only come when the the entertainment package is included with the GW3. I believe that whatever is plugged into the HDMI port is available to the front passenger when selected and to the driver 12” UConnect screen when the GW3 is in park.

Any insight would be appreciated and might prompt addition questions.

Thanks,
Steve

No charging when the car is off
And no FireTV for Auto unless you get the Entertainment package.

Guess I’ll be streaming from iPhone to HDMI or from a fire stick.

My USB works when the power is off....

I don't have the rear package but have the passenger screen. Fire TV will work on it (need to plug one in).... Word to the wise you need to plug the USB in to a power outlet or it'll work funky.

It works, but it's not great and honestly wish I didn't bother with the passenger screen.

Did you have issue getting BT audio from Stick?

Glad to hear USB charges when the car is off - the dealer said he checked and that it didn’t.
Familiar with the FireStick needing more power than a USB or it will just reboot over and over.
I see the passenger screen as a real benefit with dual navigation which seems to be something the wife and I use when on road trips, and her or I always watching an iPad or phone when riding on long trips. See streaming downloaded content from iPhone as a perk. Plus watching live TV from phone when in park (grocery trips to the store while the wife is doing her thing sounds good to me). Don’t think you can get a GW3 without it anyway.

I use the USB C, it keeps going when the car is off.

I didn't try audio from the Fire TV because it was so glitchy it wasn't worth my time. 100x easier for that passenger to just use a iPad or tablet.

USB power stays on after you turn off the ignition, but only for a few minutes and then it goes off (at least that has been my experience). I use a 4k fire tv stick to run the front passenger screen. It runs just fine off of the old school USB port up front. You can either tether your Bluetooth headphones to the fire stick, or to the passenger screen. It works fine, but I agree that the passenger screen is a bit gimmicky, and I am not sure if I would order it again. I put 2 amazon fire tablets in the back for $100 bucks a piece and they work great for road trips.
