Amazon Alexa - Stops Working After Switching Driver Profile

1660 Views 9 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Erheisey
I have two driver profiles set up in my Wagoneer--one for my wife and one for myself. Alexa works when using my wife's profile, but whenever I switch to my profile, I get an error message saying Alexa is not available right now. Anyone else having this problem? Any known solutions?

Hi there. I have the same problem on my 2022 Grand Wagoneer. I reported it to Wagoneer Connect and via my dealership, and they tell me that this is a problem with the UConnect system and that I'll have to wait for an update. This past week I did see that an update had taken place but the problem persists. I don't know if or when it'll get fixed, but it is annoying to have to constantly deregister and then re-register my Alexa account for it to work.

I am having the same problem with our 2022 Wagoneer it’s frustrating
Quick update: Wagoneer Connect contacted me and suggested I get a software update to a comms module as this might fix the issue (TSB 08-184-22). I took it to the dealership and they installed/updated the software for this module and all other pending recommended software updates too while they were at it. This did not fix the issue unfortunately, but there was agreement that this is a UConnect software related issue. We also discovered that when the Alexa connection is lost, you also lose the built-in UConnect voice control system. This is the one that pops up when you hit the green button on the left side of the steering wheel. You can still push the same button for a bit longer and get connected to Siri (if you have an iPhone) but the "regular" UConnect voice control also appears to be gone. My case was escalated to some sort of senior software engineering team to look at. I was asked to record what was happening on video and send in the videos, which I did last weekend. I'm still waiting to hear back on what their findings are. Other than this, everything else on the vehicle is working as designed.

I took delivery of my GWIII in December of 2021. Alexa has never worked. The dealer has worked on it and I have had 2 or 3 cases with Wagoneer Client Services. In the last case, I would get a weekly call saying they were working on it. This was as recent as February of 2023. I finally told them that they have been working on it for well over a year and to quit calling me until it was fixed. It still doesn't work.

Hello Huskers1948,

I'm sorry Amazon Alexa hasn't worked as it should be in your Wagoneer. You are welcome to send us a private message with your case number or VIN, and we can check for any available updates.

Was anyone able to get the Alexa issue with multiple profiles resolved. We got our 2023 Wagoneer last week and have to rest Alexa with each profile switch as well. Hoping that there is just an update that is needed.
